Job Overview
SCAD seeks a full-time counselor for its location in historic Savannah, Georgia. In this position, you will provide counseling services to students, clinical supervision to office interns, and consultation services for faculty and parents regarding students’ needs.
As a counselor, you will maintain an active caseload of students, offering individual and group counseling and, as needed, provide community referrals and crisis intervention. You will develop outreach and psychoeducational programming and presentations, provide clinical supervision to assigned department trainees and interns, and consult with university departments as necessary on mental health supports. Among other duties, you will also participate in quarterly student orientations, maintain a personal schedule, document all student contact in the department’s system, and inform your supervisor of staff development needs.
The successful candidate is enthusiastic about and experienced in working with clients from diverse backgrounds and demonstrates a commitment to ongoing multicultural competence. The candidate should also be committed to upholding the highest levels of privacy and confidentiality. Ideally, the candidate has experience working in a college counseling center and is credentialed as a clinical supervisor.
Requirements
- Master’s or doctoral degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related discipline
- Two to five years of experience
- Training, credentials, and/or experience with clinical supervision and coordinating prevention programs preferred
- Independent licensure or the ability to obtain licensure within three years
